What we need
- Assessment of existing board procedure, policy, set of guidelines, or system
- Creation of one document outlining one procedure, policy, operations, or set of guidelines, for example: bylaws, board meeting procedure, succession planning guidelines, committee policies, board member orientation handbook, etc.
Additional details
We want to build out our board governance, board leadership opportunities and get clear on board terms. Our board will be growing over the next few years and we want to set ourselves up for the next phase of our membership and impact of our board. We want to gain knowledge on best ways to engage our board and ways we can make the most impact with them.
What we have in place
- We currently have general guidelines, governance from our national team, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have quarterly goals and expectations document, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $13,348 , allowing us to expand our support, our time and resources to our AmeriCorps members serving in schools with our students. It will build capacity for our staff members and board chair for collaboration opportunities
We are coming out of our start up and founding year of our program with most of our current board members and are hoping to build, learn and gather resources for the next phase of our organization and board growth and engagement.

City Year's mission is to build democracy through citizen service, civic leadership and social entrepreneurship.
What we do
City Year helps students and schools succeed. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school, helping to ensure that students in systemically under-resourced schools receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindsets to thrive and contribute to their community.
